about alexandre del perugia
Alexandre del Perugia’s experience as an artist and a teacher led him to elaborate a theory and a pedagogical framework pertaining to the quality of presence of the performing artist on stage. Deeply attached to free thinking, he considers himself as an «accompanier» more than as a teacher and often repeats "teaching : no ! learning : yes !". His classes are classes of re-creation, where artists of all disciplines play children’s games to trace, or retrace, their way toward pleasure and states of presence.
A. del Perugia's doctoral thesis establishes the theoretical foundation of his approach. Once the tools of the player (attitudes, principles, dynamics) are acquired, the artist is no longer playing, but being played — presence is nothing else than presence to oneself in « the real », different time and space than the daily reality given to our senses.
